New Android malware named NGate is able to steal payment card data through a device’s NFC reader, according to security firm ESET. The technique effectively clones the card, allowing it to be used at ATMs or point of sale systems. The malware was installed through traditional phishing schemes, prompting users to input personal information and scan their payment card. ESET discovered instances of NGate use against three Czech banks between November and March of this year.
