Americans’ Challenges with Health Care Costs

Healthcare affordability is a key concern for American voters as high costs continue to put a strain on US families. Approximately 50% of American adults find it difficult to afford healthcare, with one in four stating they had had problems paying for healthcare in the past year. Crucially, costs have led to people neglecting or postponing essential treatment and prescription medications. The issue affects those even with health insurance, with around 40% worrying about affordable premiums. Widespread healthcare debt affects 41% of adults, particularly lower income, uninsured, Black, Hispanic, women and parents.
