Amazon’s cashierless checkout technology has been introduced at St. Joseph’s/Candler hospital system in Savannah, Georgia. Hospital staff will be able to buy food and drinks by scanning their badges, with the cost deducted from their payroll-linked account. The technology, called Just Walk Out, uses cameras, sensors and radio-frequency identification tags rather than a traditional checkout. The company plans to expand the technology to other hospitals.
