Alzheimer’s treatment: What’s next beyond amyloid?

In the face of rising global Alzheimer’s rates, a broader range of approaches towards finding a cure is in motion. Apart from the traditional approach of clearing amyloid plaques, research is now also focusing on tau tangles, inflammation, synaptic loss, and genetic risk factors. These include emerging gene and cell therapies, inflammation-targeting drugs, and the use of AI technology, although none have yet led to a significant breakthrough.
