The recovery process following a cyber attack on UK pathology services provider, Synnovis, is nearing completion with almost all services back to normal. The attack caused thousands of outpatient appointments and procedures to be postponed, and left blood transfusion services unable to conduct blood type matching. As a result, they resorted to using O-type blood, contributing to a national shortage. Normal transfusion operations have now resumed, but an amber alert for blood supplies remains.
