White House deputy national security adviser, Anne Neuberger, has announced that an alliance of 40 nations plans to tackle the rise of ransomware attacks by refusing to pay ransoms and eliminating hackers’ funding mechanisms. With 46% of such attacks targeting the US, the collective will share information about ransom payment accounts to blacklist them and utilise AI to identify illicit funds.
