Two computers at the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services were hit by malware attacks, potentially breaching patient records. The malware was a Trojan horse virus, used by cybercriminals to gain access to networks through social engineering. The department is still investigating whether hackers accessed confidential data, particularly from the Western region of the state, which contained sensitive information from the Office of Children’s Services. Affected patients will be informed as more information becomes available.
