The Akira ransomware variant has majorly hit over 250 organizations globally and extracted around $42m in ransoms, per an advisory released by the FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. The ransomware, first written in C++ and later updated in Rust, has evolved strategically to elude detection and enhance encryption capabilities. The FBI and CISA have escalated their efforts to counter Akira ransomware and encourage organizations to report incidents.
