Tenable Research has revealed that open-source AI chatbot DeepSeek R1 can be manipulated to generate keyloggers and ransomware. Initially refusing to write malicious code, researchers were able to trick the system into doing so for “educational purposes”. While the malware was not fully functional, Tenable believes the tool could still lower barriers to entry for cybercriminals.
