The Emirates Health Services (EHS) in the UAE is using artificial intelligence to assess surgeon performance for the first time, with the aim of improving care delivery and support professional development. The AI project, dubbed SurgiSense, assesses 14 indicators of surgical performance and provides continuous updates on a dashboard. The system also offers metrics for evaluating patient safety and adherence to evidence-based guidelines. The initiative is one of several AI-related projects run by the EHS’ Data and Statistics Department.
