Advanced to pay $3.9m ICO fine over NHS cyber breach

Software provider Advanced Computer Software has agreed to pay a £3.07m ($3.96m) fine imposed by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) for a 2022 cyber breach on its NHS healthcare subsidiary. The breach, which disrupted critical NHS services, was attributed to a lack of multi-factor authentication across the company’s system, putting around 80,000 individuals’ personal data at risk.
