Advanced Email Attacks Skyrocket in Healthcare

Healthcare organizations are facing a growing threat from advanced email attacks, with a 167 percent increase in such attacks observed in 2023, including business email compromise (BEC), malware, credential phishing, and extortion. These attacks are particularly concerning as they target organizations with valuable data and complex operations. Socially-engineered attacks like BEC are on the rise, with a 279 percent increase in BEC attacks in 2023 compared to the previous year. Healthcare organizations are advised to stay vigilant, train employees on email compromise warning signs, and implement technical safeguards to mitigate cyber risks.
