ACIP, CDC, and Insurance Coverage of Vaccines in the United States

Changes to the process by which vaccines are recommended by the Trump administration could lead to consumers losing access to no-cost insurance coverage of vaccines. Laws and regulations tie this coverage to recommendations by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A change to a vaccine recommendation, such as was recently done for COVID-19, would potentially no longer require insurers to provide no-cost coverage.
