A new variant of the “Gh0st RAT” malware, dubbed “SugarGh0st RAT”, has been detected in recent cyber attacks against South Koreans and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uzbekistan. Researchers at Cisco Talos detected its distribution by a group with strong Chinese ties. The malware features some new modifications to help elude antivirus software and is concealed in Windows shortcuts bundled with JavaScript, sent out via phishing emails.
