Cybersecurity researchers from Palo Alto Networks’ Unit 42 have identified a new Linux malware called “Auto-color,” which has been targeting North American and Asian universities and government offices. The malware can provide attackers full remote access, run commands, tamper with files, and remove any trace of its presence. While the initial infection vector is unknown, the rise in Linux adoption and malware-as-a-service increases the threat level.
