The US has charged 16 people in a major global crackdown on the Russia-linked cybercrime group that created the DanaBot malware, resulting in over $50 million in damage. The operation, dubbed Operation Endgame, included cooperation from Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, and cybersecurity firms. Aleksandr Stepanov and Artem Aleksandrovich Kalinkin were among those charged. The malware infected more than 300,000 computers worldwide, carrying out fraud and ransomware attacks, primarily through spam emails.
