A survey of security leaders by Oxford Economics revealed that almost half (46%) spend more time maintaining tools than preventing cyberattacks. Almost 60% identified tool maintenance as a main source of inefficiency, with most systems dispersed and disconnected. Data breaches, high alert rates and excessive workloads have led over half of respondents to consider leaving cybersecurity. Though AI technology is helping to improve efficiency, only 11% trust it for crucial tasks. The survey called for stronger focus on fundamentals, like securing system access against cybercrime.
