Cybercriminals are circulating a malicious version of popular password manager, KeePass, allowing them to steal data and deploy ransomware. The deceptive tool is being distributed via a fake KeePass website, cloned from the original. The tool retains all original KeePass functionalities but includes a Cobalt Strike component, enabling the cybercriminals to extract passwords and deploy ransomware. Security researchers, WithSecure Threat Intelligence, suggests this specific group may be related to infamous ransomware operator, Black Basta.
