NHS England is urging its suppliers to sign a new cybersecurity charter consisting of eight security commitments to combat rising ransomware threats. These include multi-factor authentication, effective 24/7 cyber monitoring techniques, implementing latest patches and maintaining at least ‘Standards Met’ as part of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT). Suppliers are also required to have immutable backups of critical business data, plan for rapid recovery from a cyber incident, and adhere to software code of practice.
