Ex-administrator of cybercrime forum Breachforums, Conor Brian Fitzpatrick, has agreed to forfeit $700,000 in a civil lawsuit related to a healthcare data breach. This highly unusual case is the first where a data breach victim will be directly compensated by a cybercriminal’s assets. Fitzpatrick, also facing additional criminal charges, is set for resentencing in June. His initial lenient sentence was overturned because it did not highlight the severity of his offences.
