Ransomware attacks on education sector go unreported for months

A study by Comparitech reveals that US educational institutions take, on average, 4.8 months to disclose data breaches from ransomware attacks, significantly longer than the 48-72 hours mandated by cyber laws in many countries. These delays increase the risk of identity theft and fraud for students, parents, and educators. Often, breaches are only disclosed when stolen data appears for sale on the dark web.
