Customer data stolen in breach, retailer confirms

A cyber attack on M&S, forcing a halt to online orders for nearly three weeks, has wiped £1bn off its share price. Following the attack, confirmed on 22 April, it has enlisted the National Crime Agency, the National Cyber Security Centre, the Metropolitan police and Silicon Valley experts. Other UK retailers, including Co-op and Harrods, have also reported breaches, with hacking cartel DragonForce and UK-US based teenage hacking gang Scattered Spider among the suspects.
