Organisations that handle data on US citizens need to improve their cyber security and respond faster to incidents or risk increasing legal costs, according to analysis by CCM specialist Panaseer. Between August 2024 and February 2025, US organisations paid out $154.6m in class action costs from 43 lawsuits and 73 settlements. Overall, US data breach litigation hit record levels in 2024, with filings doubling over 2023. Jonathan Gill, CEO at Panaseer, urges companies to focus on visibility, alignment, and clarity to address these issues.
