Blue Shield of California: Data of millions shared with Google

Blue Shield of California has informed 4.7 million individuals of a data breach caused by a configuration in Google Analytics that potentially allowed member data to be shared with Google Ads. The breach may have enabled Google Ads to deliver targeted campaigns. Blue Shield insists no bad actors were involved and Google has not misused the information. The healthcare provider has since severed connections between Google Analytics and Google Ads.
