RSM: Data breaches are on the decline, but organizations can’t get complacent

The RSM US Middle Market Business Index Special Report: Cybersecurity 2025 reports that 18% of mid-tier U.S. companies suffered a data breach in 2021, a decrease from 28% in 2024. Almost all firms reported confidence in their security measures. The report suggests companies must maintain attention to cybersecurity given the continuous emergence of potential threats. The study revealed 91% expect their cybersecurity budget to rise next year and a record 82% have cyber insurance, although some companies lack full understanding of their policies.
