Cybersecurity firm WatchGuard has reported a 94% rise in network-based malware detections in Q4 2024, signalling an increase in threats. The firm also saw a 6% rise in Gateway AntiVirus detections, a 74% increase in Advanced Persistent Threat detections, and a massive 315% increase in detections using proactive machine learning, suggesting that more sophisticated malware is being caught. Zero-day malware also rebounded to 53% in Q4 from a low of 20% in Q3.
