The FBI has warned that cybercriminals are using online PDF converters to spread malware. Security firm CloudSEK discovered a fake PDF-to-DOCX converter impersonating the genuine pdfcandy.com service. The scam sites used similar domains and replicated the genuine site’s interface to appear legitimate. After asking users to upload a PDF file, users were prompted to run a PowerShell command, triggering the malware delivery process.
