A report by cybersecurity firm TeamT5 revealed that a Chinese Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) group exploited critical vulnerabilities in Ivanti Connect Secure VPN appliances to conduct a global cyberattack. The attack impacted 20 industries across 12 countries, with private and public sector networks left exposed. The APT group used a customised hacking tool, SPAWNCHIMERA, specifically targeting Ivanti VPN systems.
