National Allied Health Workforce Strategy: a lasting reprieve?

Australia’s allied health sector will need an additional 25,000 workers over the next five years due to a talent shortage. The new National Allied Health Workforce Strategy is expected to provide solutions. Chief Allied Health Officer Anita Hobson-Powell suggests improving data access will allow better understanding of the existing health workforce, thereby identifying key areas of need. The strategy also aims to define what constitutes an allied health professional, which would improve funding arrangements and overall supply of workers.
