NHS ‘woefully exposed’ to cybercrime as Briton’s personal health data ‘hanging by a thread’

The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) is highly susceptible to cybercrime, dealing with approximately 360 cyberattacks per week, according to cybersecurity expert Andrew Jenkinson. Outsourced US servers storing a significant amount of the data are constantly exposed to breaches, putting millions of patients’ personal health information at risk. The cyberattacks, costing the NHS billions annually, also risk obstructing individuals’ abilities to secure health or life insurance and mortgages if their personal information is sold.
