DeSoto Regional Health System in the US may have difficulty repaying $36m in loans if proposed Medicaid cuts are realised. The rural hospital was renovated with the expectation of a stable funding source from the insurance program for lower income individuals, but is now concerned the cuts could affect patients’ access to care. As many as 38% of the district’s population are enrolled in Medicaid, who could be affected by the cuts.
