President Trump’s imposition of a 25% tariff on South Korean imports, a potential fallout from the ongoing trade war, could make K-beauty (Korean skincare) products less affordable in the US. Due to the tariffs, a Korean skincare brand, KraveBeauty, announced that there may be changes to their long-standing policy of keeping all products priced under $28. Another concern is that the allure of K-beauty products being ‘not made in America’ could be lost if manufacturers choose to open factories in the US to avoid tariffs.
