The coalition claims the NIH’s actions violate federal law and are unconstitutional. The NIH allegedly offered no scientifically valid explanation for its termination of the grants, which it claimed were connected to issues of gender identity or diversity, equity, and inclusion. Over $2.4 billion in grants have already been cancelled.
