Cuts to the FDA’s workforce could impact the agency’s ability to manage medical device cybersecurity, and slow down reviews of innovative technology, warned experts at a Congressional hearing. Calls were made for better protections for ethical hackers researching medical device cybersecurity issues, in addition to concerns being raised about potential vulnerabilities in older medical devices. Losses of FDA staff could also make recruitment and retention of cybersecurity experts more difficult.
