Cybersecurity firm Threat Fabric has identified a new Android malware, Crocodilus, that tricks users into revealing their cryptocurrency seed phrases. The malware presents an overlay warning users to back up their crypto wallet keys, or risk loss. This technique allows the malware to collect the seed phrase and potentially drain the wallet. Initial infection occurs through inadvertent downloads of other software. The malware has been primarily identified in Turkey and Spain, but Threat Fabric anticipates its use will widen.
