Fake CAPTCHAs are being used to spread malware – and we only have ourselves to blame

HP’s latest Threat Insights Report reveals a rise in malware campaigns involving fake CAPTCHA verification pages, causing users to unintentionally download malware. Attackers are also gaining access to victims’ webcams and microphones via open source RAT and XenoRat techniques, in addition to distributing malicious JavaScript codes through Scalable Vector Graphic images to steer clear of detection. These campaigns rely heavily on obscure anti-analysis techniques to delay investigation.
