Indonesian software programmer Yohanes Nugroho has successfully brute-forced the Akira ransomware’s encryption using Nvidia GPUs, giving victims of the ransomware hope of recovering their encrypted data without paying a ransom. Nugroho’s method has already helped one victim and he has shared the decryptor on GitHub. Despite the initial challenges and complexities involved, Nugroho managed to develop the solution for around $1,200.
