U.S. Charges LockBit Ransomware Developer in Cybercrime Crackdown

Rostislav Panev, a dual Russian and Israeli citizen, has been charged by the US Department of Justice for his role in the LockBit ransomware group, which has caused billions of dollars in damages worldwide. Panev was arrested in Israel in August and is now awaiting extradition to the US. This is part of a global effort to dismantle such operations and hold those responsible to account. Six other LockBit members have also been charged. The US State Department is offering up to $10m for information leading to the arrest and conviction of certain members.
