NY Health Group Fined $550K in Unpatched Vulnerability Hack

HealthAlliance Hospital in New York’s Hudson Valley has been fined $550,000 by state regulators due to a data breach caused by an unpatched Citrix NetScaler zero-day flaw. The healthcare group’s attempts to patch the vulnerability ultimately failed, leading to hackers exploiting the flaw and stealing 196 gigabytes of data that affected around 242,000 patients and employees.
