An exposed Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 storage bucket has led to a data breach, compromising over 86,000 records from US HealthTech firm ESHYFT. Discovered by cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler, the unsecured data included numerous documents with sensitive employee information, including medical data that might fall under HIPAA regulations. Despite the breach being disclosed to the company, public access was only restricted more than a month later. The firm has yet to clarify how long the data was exposed or whether it was accessed during this period.
