26 million devices are infected by malware that steals bank card data including passwords

A malware attack targeted 25 million device users in 2023 and 2024, stealing sensitive data including bank card numbers and passwords. Kaspersky estimates that 2.3 million bank cards were leaked on the dark web, and 95% of the card numbers are technically valid. The malware often disguises as legitimate software and is spread through phishing links, malicious email attachments, and infected websites. Kaspersky advises victims to monitor their bank accounts, change passwords, enable two-factor authentication, and run security scans on their devices.
