Forescout widens research on Silver Fox hackers, reveals malware clusters targeting healthcare through DICOM, HL7 exploits

Research by cybersecurity firm, Forescout Technologies, uncovered three malware clusters targeting healthcare systems, including a Trojan infecting Philips DICOM viewers. The attack exploits default credentials, popular medical software names and healthcare protocols to gain access. HIPAA Journal suggests a rise in cyberattacks aimed at healthcare systems show the attractiveness of potentially lucrative medical data, with ransomware attacks the most common threat. Forescout advises healthcare organisations to limit external communications and continually monitor endpoints and network traffic to enhance cybersecurity defences.
