Previously unidentified botnet infects unpatched TP-Link Archer home routers

Cybersecurity firm Cato Networks has discovered that a botnet known as Ballista is exploiting a firmware weakness to target TP-Link Archer routers. The hacker, suspected to be based in Italy, is taking advantage of the vulnerability to infect devices. The botnet, named after a Roman weapon, is active and has targeted entities in various industries in the US, Australia, China and Mexico. The US has already flagged TP-Link routers for exploitation by Chinese hackers.
