Chinese government-backed cybercriminal group Silver Fox is targeting patients’ computers with malware masked as DICOM medical imaging software. Cybersecurity company Forescout discovered the software, primarily disguised as Philips’ DICOM Media Viewer, which once downloaded, gives hackers access to personal data. This malware may have the potential to spread within healthcare networks, particularly if infected patient devices are used in hospitals or home-based care.
