Ransomware attacks against industrial organisations rose 87% in the past year, with new malware families designed for operational technology systems also emerging. State-sponsored groups are reportedly embedding themselves in crucial infrastructure while hackers and cyber criminals exploit known vulnerabilities. The findings, part of the Dragos 2025 Operational Technology/ Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity Report, also underline that despite increased observability and stronger network segmentation, a lack of visibility into these systems continues to obscure the true scale of attacks.
