OpenAI has banned accounts that used its ChatGPT tool to develop a suspected AI-powered surveillance tool, likely originating from China. The tool used Meta’s Llama model to generate detailed descriptions and analyze documents, collecting real-time data about anti-China protests in the West. OpenAI also disrupted several other clusters found abusing ChatGPT for malicious activities, including deceptive employment schemes, generation of anti-US content, and romance-baiting scams.
