UCHealth has developed a user interface that assesses a patient’s risk of falling using multiple datasets, in order to limit the use of preventative measures to high-risk patients only. The tool integrates predictions into the patient’s electronic health records and reduces clinicians’ alarm fatigue. The system was created by analyzing data from 181,000 inpatient admissions, using artificial intelligence (AI) to rank patients’ risk into three tiers and generate a list of patient-specific precautions.
