Microsoft has identified a new updated variant of XCSSET, one of the major threats to the macOS platform that can steal data and infiltrate systems. This latest variant uses improved obfuscation methods, stronger persistence mechanisms, and novel infection strategies. Microsoft’s Threat Intelligence suggests the malware’s propagation could escalate significantly. To guard against such threats, Microsoft suggests only installing apps from trusted sources and thoroughly inspecting Xcode projects before downloading.
