Akira Ransomware is now targeting legacy servers of defunct companies

Cyber criminals, Akira Ransomware gang, have reportedly stolen data from the defunct Australian media company, Regency Media, and leaked it on the dark web. This data includes sensitive personal information and financial records. This unusual incident has left many puzzled as it’s not typical for cyber criminals to target non-operational companies as there’s no realistic chance of ransom. Initial investigations suggest the valuable data may have been obtained from abandoned archive servers.
