L.A.’s Unofficial Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Is Gone

A massive fire left Charlie Springer’s massive collection of music memorabilia reduced to ash. His collection, dubbed ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame West’, included 18,000 vinyl LPs, 12,000 CDs, 10,000 45s, 4,000 cassettes, 600 78s and 150 8-tracks. Unique items such as drumsticks from Nirvana, a microphone from Prince and a neon Beach Boys sign were also lost. The collection had been curated from an early age with Springer beginning his collection at 6, asking his mother for a record of Elvis’s ‘Hound Dog’.
